Mikki Suvia

Behind every band or project, lies a musician who’s skills, talents, creativity, and constant devotion to success, propel the group to super status. Since that person doesn’t play in this band, you just get the four of us ! And on this page, you just get Mik… Mikki Suvia, aka “ Tone Man”, is the lead / electric guitarist for the group “ Factory Seconds “. Mikki has been playing for 23 years and has been in hard rock, blues, and surf bands. He is a musician who has been blessed with a great gift for music, and art in several forms. He is also a man who will tell you that these gifts all come from a source much Higher and Greater than himself, his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. When asked of his influences, he will also give quite a list of names, such as… David Gilmore ( Pink Floyd), Stevie Ray Vaughn, Warren Haynes (Allman Bro’s / Gov’t Mule), John Petrucci (Dream Theater / Liquid Tension), Steve Morse (Dixie Dregs / Steve Morse Band), Steve Lukather (Toto / and 40 million other people), Tom Stanton (Surf Kings / The Crossfires) Jimi Hendrix, Alex Lifeson (Rush), Mark Knopfler (Dire Straights), and we’ll stop here because the end of the list seems to be nowhere in sight… When Mik started this musical love affair in 1981, he knew nothing really except that there would never be any turning back. Good or bad, up or down, energetic or burned to the ground, burnt out, this thing called “guitar” would never leave his hands. Mikki started in a hard rock band called “ZAXAS”, where he learned to both play and write music. The band reached relative status in So. Cal., and even commercial status in Europe. The band moved on eventually to a more daunting task, that of a Rock Opera called “Destiny Faire”, which is currently on review as a broadway musical. He would eventually meet a man who would once again change the way he viewed guitar playing and writing, Mr. Tom Stanton. Tom is the catalyst behind the So. Cal. based “SURF KINGS”, one of the top surf / instrumental music groups in the world today. Tom asked Mikki to join the band on occasion as the two players could make it happen (timewise), and they play together still as much as possible. Mikki’s main band “FACTORY SECONDS”, is the type of music Mik feels has always been his forte’. “An Americana-based, blues rock with a twist at times”, as he puts it. The band crosses so many musical paths and is inspired by so many people and styles that at times they end a jam session, look at each other, and wonder, “what in the world did we just play?” But seriously, it is Mikki’s hope that beyond all that you read or see, that the music moves you in the same way it does him.
